I was recently reading a book about parenting. It is a worthwhile read especially one section which describes the notion of enjoying being a parent rather than simply focusing on how to form our children into future responsible, well balanced, and self-sufficent adults. "Huh?" Enjoying parenthood? That's like saying I "enjoy" running 50 miles straight. I don't normaly say that I "enjoy" it, but it is rewarding......... so why shouldn't simply "being" a parent be rewarding? Why can't I "enjoy" being a parent? So I've challenged myself to enjoy being around my boys. Yes I'm still getting up tight sometimes but I find myself catching myself before I get angry or use harsh words. Yesterday I was sitting at my desk/kitchen table working when Kre spilt his drink on an end table in our living room. The boys are supposed to have their drinks in the kitchen. Right when it happened I stood up and Kre saw me coming. He immediatly shrunk down into a crouch with his arms around his legs and his head on his knees (very pitiful) and it hit me so hard that I hoped it was out of sadness for spilling his drink not fear of me. It was one of those moments that caused me to stop and seriously consider what kind of parent I am and reinforced the fact that I should be "enjoying" my sons not constantly getting after them. It is a goal that I can help my boys grow to be men, but I am trying also to enjoy my time with the. So I hugged him and helped him clean up the mess rather than get mad at him for spilling. Then we discussed that we don't have drinks in that room. All in all it has been a great focusing moment. Focus people, Focus.

The life with a husband traveling...
I figured this is the best way to get my frustrations out. So, Bard left on Tue. for a week in Washington. Boy I hate those words! It started out rough from the get go. I had to rush home from the airport to get Brig to school on time. I had to stop and get them lunch on the way home so he wouldn't starve at school and all the while trying not to puke! Boy if that's not enough. So the week has been very crazy! Kre has decided that he misses his dad and is taking it out in very "fun" ways. He has cried over everything this week (which if you know Kre he doesn't do this) also he's decided that the bathroom is not the place to go potty and so I have laundry coming out my ears. If that is not enough he's also decided that he wants to run in and out of his bed for 2 hours after I put him down even though he's exhausted. If being pregnant and throwing up several times a day isn't enough to handle right now....ahhhhhhhhhh. Ok I must say that all of this is probably not that big of a deal, but when your pregnant and really not feeling good just cleaning the house is an all day chore. I'm sure that if my kids could write they'd probably say something like "my mom hasn't made us real food all week and every time she does feed us she starts throwing up. Come on mom it can't be that bad." I'm sure this whole thing isn't that bad but the point is, is that I want my husband back. Bard is the best. He helps out so much when he's here especially lately with me being so sick. Last week he got sick and had horrible headaches but you know Bard that didn't stop him from cleaning, cooking, taking Brig to school, or getting the kids ready for bed. He's the best! So hurry up and get home! PLEASE!!!!!

Game Night
Ricki and I went to the BYU-CSU game for date night this week. We went along with a whole bunch of church friends which meant that we were the minority CSU fans among a sea of blue. We had our moments and CSU had some big plays and very nearly took the game. BYU took it with less than 2:00 left. It was an exciting game and lots of fun despite the fact that Ricki was feeling sick and I've got a bad cold. It was a beautiful evening during an unseasonably warm fall.

Halloween
Halloween spanned about a four day period for us this year. We had a church party, a gym party, Ricki dressed up for her kickboxing class, a school party and the official Halloween day. It was lots of fun, the kids loved being dressed up. Brig got very serious when he was dressed up and did a lot of saluting. Kre loved being a pirate and got more "That is the cutest!" comments I've ever heard. Ricki had people stopping by her class just to check her out.....I mean to check her costume out. Enjoy the pictures!
