Longs Peak in December

A friend and I decided to take a winter run up Longs Peak. Leaving the parking lot, it was actually pretty nice. A bit cold with a few light drifting flakes of snow glittering in the sun. Heading up through the trees was beautiful. The streams were all iced over and the trail was quiet, like it can only be in the winter. As the trail became more exposed the temperatures seemed to drop and the wind picked up. Finally crossing above tree line we realized just how quickly the weather had changed on us.
 Traveling up the trail.
Nearing tree line. I changed out of my light wind jacket and put my Gore Tex shell.
Face starting to go numb from the heavy winds.

Turning around. Our faces were numb and the wind was kicking up so much snow it was getting difficult to see.

After we got off the mountain we ran up to Storm Pass instead. And the weather was beautiful.

A few clips that really capture the fantastic weather we were able to experience.
